6th day in rehab

Nice early start this morning with a surprise cooked breakfast! Bacon, mushroom and toast ๐Ÿ˜€ thank you kitchen lady!

Got myself dressed and presentable. Hospital transport arrived just after 9 to take me to orthotics.
I arrived early and met Mum for a coffee/cake and a chat about the latest stupid Nigel Farrage related news amongst other things.

Orthotics was a bit of a waste of time…basically there is no shoulder brace known to man that ticks all of the boxes I want ticked and it’s been decided that a compression vest is no longer worth doing, especially the design I wanted. I got a bit upset and frustrated at this, simply because everything with me seems to be so complicated, why can’t anything be easy? Also my orthotist suggested giving up wheelchair basketball to avoid shoulder dislocations. I’m just not willing to give up anything (especially that) I’ve lost too much lately.
As for knee and ankle braces, orthotist refused to prescribe anything based on the fact that my needs might change because I’m in rehab…I understand that but my ankles and knees weren’t supportive enough before my health crash so im pretty sure they won’t be even after rehab since the aim is to get me back to how I was before!
I am at getting a new wrist brace to replace the one I lost tho! ๐Ÿ™‚
Headed back to the Aldeburgh with a different crew of ambulance people ๐Ÿ™‚ had a good chat with the not-driving one.

Lunch was GF pasta and sautรฉd potatoes and roasted Low FODMAP veg ๐Ÿ˜€

I had a busy afternoon/evening with visitors Claire Connon came to entertain me for a few hours and brought cake! We chatted and laughed and she watched/video-d my session with my lovely pair of physios.
I practiced knee bends with physio man while waiting for physio lady ๐Ÿ™‚

Then did some walking with my gutter frame as supposed to the bars to rest my wrists.

Progress with walking is going really well, better than I could have hoped!
Its painful and exhausting and requires every ounce of concentration I have but I’m getting there. The tremors in my legs are a million times better and I think I’m starting to get some proprioception back again!
After a bit more silliness with Claire she headed home and I’d just finished dinner when Dad arrived with more bird seed for the garden ๐Ÿ˜€
We had a catch up and I showed off my walking videos. We laughed and talked about everything from segways to Morocco and back again. And I caught up on all the dog/golf/work news :-D.

All in all a fun day, I’m looking forward to a rest day tomorrow
