Self-care isn't self-indulgent

Self-Care isn’t Self-Indulgent

May 7, 2017June 1, 2017 JBOTHealth & Disability. EDS & PoTS

In my work as an OT and in my life in general I often come across phrases that make me sad. I have lost count of the times I’ve heard ‘I don’t have time to pace’. This phrase is usually followed by a list of things the person does for others… I often have to…Continue reading Self-Care isn’t Self-Indulgent

Flexivity (SudoGrip) Walking Stick Handle Cover

August 25, 2015April 23, 2016 JBOTEveryday Aids & Lifestyle Adaptations

For many people the balance between style and function is a difficult one. I know I should be using walking sticks with ergonomic grips but I also really wanted one with flames around the bottom (just like Dr House). This is the perfect compromise.

"Jo is a truly lovely person and so far I've not found anything regarding disability that she *doesn't* know anything about! So far, she's advised me on things like which wheelchair to buy (including cushions, backrests, power-assisted wheels), how to insure said wheelchair, how to walk the dog while in a wheelchair, kinesiology taping, ring splints, physiotherapy, pain management, getting an accurate diagnosis... I'm sure there's a million other things! She has always got a few good ideas about how to get around whatever barrier I'm facing and I couldn't be more grateful. Her blog is also a super-useful resource for all manner of information, she has a post about most things! She has a wealth of experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone who is need of this kind of advice. Thank you Jo!"
